If you look at allot fo Street Style Dances like House, certain Top Rock Steps, Webo, you will see allot of influence from Disco Roller Skate. The truth is we were all frequenting Roller Disco's since the 1970's. And the Music as well as the Skating was deeply involved with our dance style. The best skaters would dance on the skates, spin, and slide, do splits, and tricks, but the common groove was THE BOUNCE! That is why you here the famous song by Vaugn Mason called "Bounce Rock Skate Roll". The dances and Routines had footwork that we emulated on the dance floor without skates on. The bounce feel that skaters did, lead way to how we added more Bounce to our Moves. I can remember that you can see how a cat danced by the way he skated. The roller rink I went to the most was a real Ghetto Style spot called "Bruckna Roller Rink" I would see legens like grand Master Caz, Flash, and an MC known as Nelly Nel who used to rock the mic and keep the crowd hype. At a certain time in the night, they would have a dance session, and all the Rockers, BBoys/BGirls, Spanish Hustle Dancers would get on the floor and rock for 1 hour! I had my first Battle at this spot against the Famous Rapper "Kool Kieth" We were both Boogie Boys, and we met in the middle of the floor and went a few rounds and left with mad respect for each outher. The whol roller skate vibe led to a dance style we called the Roller Skate that you still see in Hip Hop today.

Bua Paints Hip Hop

Justin Bua is probably the most well known Urban Artist on the planet. I am sure either you, or someone you know has a Bua poster on his or her wall right now. He grew up on the same streets as many original Hip Hop Icons like Frosty Freeze (RIP) and Ken Swift. And has lived the life of a New York Street Style Dancer and Artist. His paintings sell all over the world, and his client list is a who's who of the Music, Athletic and Political world. For this brother to honor me in such a way has touched me deep, because I never really look at myself as an achiever, but more as a person who is still striving to achieve.
