If Pictures are worth a thouisand word, This one shot says it all. Taken at the ROXY (famus roller rink converted into the first down town Hip Hop club) early 80's, it shows Futura 2000 Writing (graffiti), Mr Freeze in a Boogie pose, Crazy Legs in a Baby Freeze, and Take One in a Bridge Freeze, MC's rocking the mic, and a crowd of BBoys/BGirls, Nuff Said.
The Roxy became our new home for Hip Hop. We went from Throwing Down on the streets, To Guest Lists in all the high end clubs. But the Roxy was the best, When you approach the front, it was jam packed outside, but all us little Puerto Ricans get pushed to the front of the line and we get al out people in free! We had so much juice! Once your in, you walk through a dark tunle flooded with graffiti, and into the rink, music pumpin, either DST, BAMBAATTAA, or AFRIKA ISLAM cutting up Breaks! when it first started they only used half of the rink, but no long after t's popularity grew, they opened the entire rink! Huge Dance Space, Mad Battles! Crazy Celebs. It was incredible!
